Humus can be found in the topsoil, they are a coffee-colored decomposed material from plant waste, animal waste and remains decomposed by the activities of microorganisms and earthworms. Humus is of the best fertilizers created by nature and is an important variable which always replenishes overall nutrients and beneficial microorganisms for soil and plants but, in home grown potting plants the deposition is insufficient and this is where compost comes into play.

Compost is a biodegradation product rich in both nutrients and beneficial microorganisms, made by humans from the decomposition of mainly plant waste, manure and beneficial microbes in addition to replicating humus. Compost can be used to nourish the soil and plants by simply top feeding regularly.

Compost Tea

As a compost has to go through a microbial process of the soil food web before it can be absorbed by plants, the use of compost tea to supplement together is therefore very effective as plants can uptake and use immediately, also can be used for foliar spray as well.
